Small convoy to the Hitchin meet

So, it's been a while since a last update, we would like to ideally update every day....but we have all been really busy with work and other things, but that doesn't mean we haven't still been OCD'ing....we still have been rolling to local meets together....still meeting up and discussing wagens....so heres a few pics and stuff, pretty random and by the way, i'm still learning with the camera....

Splitting My Turbos

So i took my wheels off due to rubbing, and in the mean time give them a refurb, get rid of those really irritating flat valves and give them a spring clean! Thought id take some pictures for y'all to see!

Firstly i had the tyres just popped off the bead, saved a bit of space until i had time to strip them!

Then i took a trip to see the boys and girls at Voodoo and keep them company for the evening!

So with my wheels all split apart ready for slight change. im gona get on with building my RS's which hopefully will be ready from powdercoating this week! which leaves me with 2 sets of tyres im not gonna use so if anyone want some second hand tyres let me know

185/45/15 x 4 Nankangs
195/50/15 x 4 Toyo Proxes

anyone interested get in touch cos quite frankly, they are in my way, the nankangs have loads of tread, just one of them has a rubbing mark as you can see above pic. The Toyos are the old style ones, with 3 good tread and one about 3.5-4mm left.

safe.

Hitchin to meet new dubs?

Me, Luke and young Dry took a trip to Hitchin last thursday to the new meet in the area!

Only being a half hour trip away, and the raving reviews from Dubsy about the meet we decided to take a cruise over to The Angels Reply pub in Hitchin.

We got there fairly early really, but already we were welcomed but dubs of all ages and smiling faces. There seems to be no groups of people in corners or people bitching, just seemed like you had known everyone most your life. One of those meets which makes you want go to your garage and start work on your dub!

These guys are real genuine and you will probably find are doing it for the same reason as you would, to meet like minded people and talk wheels and cars!

where to go?

The Angels Reply (pub)
Bedford Road,
Hitchin,
Hertfordshire,
SG5 2NG

At the moment, these meets are going every 2 weeks, the next one being 27th May i believe! (best to stay live on E38 to find out more)

pics shamelessly borrowed from Eric

Peice of advice: if your hungry and like pub food...still take a packed lunch!

All this talk...

All this talk and speaking to Luke about inspiration has got me confused on one hand, and on the other one thinking new ideas, well involves going back to where it began...

steelies...

without sounding gay, iv got a few sets of wheels under my sleeve, but after today seeing my Caddy back on the steelies its got me thinking. This maybe where it is at for the Caddy, they seem to suit it so much!

I really dont know what to think at the moment, but after seeing Lukes pictures he grabbed off various sites it does get you thinking of much bigger things. Anybody saying they dont like some of those cars has got to be lying, okay they might not be to everyones taste, but hes right...it's inspiration to say the least. And where would we be without inspiration?

So lately ive been gathering some parts, ive gathered some more expensive parts but they arent in my hands yet, its going to get busy after DC10 i know that! Then im planning on taking the caddy off the road in the winter and pull the engine out to sort that area, paint, rebuild, carbs, diesel? so many ways to go...

these should sort some rattles and squeaks out, still on the look out for some side repeater lenses and genuine headlights.

the little things that annoy me like faded lenses... i also picked up a new coolant bottle, pedal rubbers, and genuine new rear lights and arch spats!

now to fit it!

Mk3 VR Six Shooter

As some of you will know, when you own a slammed MK3 VR you have a sump that is lower then a rattle snakes arse. My good friend Dubnut has already gone through one sump, and had a call on a late wednesday night with one pissed of dub head....and you guessed it, he's done another sump. I had a text with a picture of his wagen on the drive with a puddle of oil coming from underneath, the text also came with, "Luke can you fit my new one, i have all the bits", i wasn't going to say no, after all, you know how us dub kids stick together, and after all, i was due a visit to surrey. heres some pictures:

One Demolished VR sump

So after Struggling for around a hour, i got the new one on, it was so low that when we jacked it up, i was still not far off the floor, but in the end we got the job done! and after a long road test we found some awesome "berg Cup" (lol) looking roads to unleash the six on. That was actually the icing on the cake for me and also one happy dubnut to have his VR back on the road terrorising Foes with....

Was just online, flicking through mad amounts of pages, digging through build threads, google for some hella sick inspiration, not that we need it, but just nice to see finished products. Mine and the others love for wagens grow by the daily. so heres some of my favourites, i don't care if it runs BBS (after all, we are supposed sheep haha) or some basic rims like ATS cups....if i like i like. heres some pics of what we love :

OCD is the way to be....

So so, we are back online, under a new blogging site, thanks to Jambo keeping on top of things and keeping us online. It's funny....we left the well known Nomads Crew and started this OCDubs business as a joke....but its turned into something more serious, we are still doing bits together, if its that we are working on our wagens together or be it that we are going out for a few beers, the OCD thing has defiantly been engraved into my brain and no doubt to the others too, so as you can see, this OCDubs business is here to stay.

Wanted to say sorry for the lack of blogging lately....i tell you whats happened, we've all been in that field cotching with the other sheep, too busy grazing in the flock....NAAAAT. There has been a bit of banter from a couple of people saying we OCD boys are like sheep, i want to re aliterate that that statement is not true....just a bit of beef, and Beef is best served seasoned....so i'm going to take that with a pinch of salt.

anyway....back to the wagens!

I haven't really done much on mine at the moment. I have finished the detailing including clay bar, step 1, 2 and three etc. I have Today just ordered some FK konnigsport Coilies and have some new top mounts coming as we speak, so should be soon to fit them and get the mk1 sitting a little better, it's not going to go as low as my old MK2....don't want to scrape the underneath as its a timeless classic : ) . once it's low i will then be able to concentrate on the new wheels i want, which some of you will know my options, but won't say till it actually happens!

so, the OCD started kicking in when i saw the dirt that has built up behind and just above the splitter.....so you know whats coming:

So splitter off

so theres the dirt, got some gunk off stuff and:

Finished, Step One, Two and Three'd

Then cleaned and Trim detailed the splitter and refitted!

Pretty sad, but you know how old the mk1s are now, this way it should be protected now for a bit, nothing worse then letting dirt build up : ) I HATE RUST almost as much as Anti OCD'ers

so, a little update there for you, there will be more to come in the next few weeks i'm sure, when it comes to fitting the coilies I will post some pictures up to show the progress. Thanks for looking and take it easy....
