In bits

So the time came to take the engine out, and strip it down into bits, the daunting task had to happen at some point. Now im spoilt in one sense, spent half my life looking at our jetski engines, which means alot of new parts, alot of the time! So when it came to taking parts off this well oiled up engine (not quite as oiled up as those JLS babies). It became apparent it was in need of a good rebuild. So with the short block en route to local surgeons, it leaves me with no option other than to get cleaning and the odd bit of powder coating...i can see this getting out of hand!

With the Gearbox off and the engine on its stand it was apparent the main oil seal had seen better days, the crack pipe doing its job, water pump as tight as ginge and sump gasket leaking it was time to get shopping and cleaning! My brother might of broken his neck and nearly lost his life last month, but that doesnt stop a real man working, so i got him cleaning up some parts for me, brotherly love....

So while i give some bits and peices to the powder coaters, in various colours, ill be shopping in the states for a nice billet crakpipe©, and getting the rest for the usual place...genuine parts only!

Im thinking some of that flywheel could do with coming off and being balanced!

Dont forget all the important bits...

knocked for six.

Well i wasn't exactly on the look out for a Corrado, but the fact it had six cylinders got me thinking...

A few days after picking the car up, work gets underway, front end is stripped down and ready for the engine to be dropped.

So while she sits up Voodoo feeling sorry for herself. The engine should be dropped this week, the stripped down to be sent off for something to do with bore sizes in the next few weeks :). While this goes on, some original headlights and taillights, original grille, and full powerflex bushes will be fitted. Alongside some general maintenance to running gear parts.

So hopefully with the engine checks going to plan, the refurbished head, new timing chains and possibly new pistons ect. will be fitted in time for me to see some summer time action while my caddy gets taken in possibly weeks before edition :)

Not the 2010 i planned, but hey im not complaining!
